To say that this book is useful, would be a vague understatement. Jordan Brady marries the worlds of, respect, professional growth and technical aptitude in a short easy to read book titled Commercial Directing Voodoo. It is a fluid stream of information and comedy, from knowing who you are as a director to don’t forget to say thank you at the end of the day. There is a triad of themes throughout the read that act as a testament to Jordan’s success as a director, comedian, and author. The tips and tricks provided in CDV, are easily translatable to other film mediums, with insights to what the “big guys” are doing. It is an easy Saturday afternoon read when you have an hour or two. In the book, Jordan often mentions taking those few minutes to go learn something that will become a lifelong tool for you, and your reel. To put it into perspective; it took me longer to word this review, then it did to read his book and gain the priceless knowledge that will now be a part of my own toolkit.
