Filmmaker Nur Niaz Talks Directing Commercials & His Popular YouTube Cannel From Kazakhstan.

Director Nur Niaz is a talented filmmaker creating cozy and fun films for Samsung, Toyota, BMW, Coca-Cola, Red Bull and many more. I met Nur via another filmmaker’s instagram post of Nur’s work an d loved it. He’s living in his home country of Kazakhstan, yes it’s a real place, so we zoomed and you’ll love this chat. Equally as impressive as Nur’s work is his generous spirit in giving back, so in frequent in young filmmakers. Nur’s youtube channel is full of tips and tricks on how to make it as a filmmaker.

Also check out Nur’s treatments and templates you can use for your pesky Director’s Treatments. It’s a great resource.

Check out all the Nur’s stellar, starting with this Samsung spot.

Music Video and Commercial Director June Bae.

Music Video Director June Bae and I sat outside, socially distanced, and chatted about helming hip hop videos and launching a commercial directing career. His latest video for Ameer Vann, for the rapper’s new ditty IDFIATOK, literally dropped today and has tens of thousands of views already. (PS it has bad words.)

June is a talented filmmaker on the rise, his passion, journey and commitment to his craft is inspiring. Check out the spots we discuss and his work at SixTwentySix. Enjoy!

This episode is one hour and sponsored by Oso Delicious Hot Sauce, the hot sauce made by bears. Flavorseeker Fun Pak‘s ship Friday’s at 3pm.

My cult classic mockumentary film, “Dill Scallion” is online for rent and I’m giving 100% of the gross money raised to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in fact I’ll match it. Roger Ebert called it “The country music ‘This is Spinal Tap'” so that sums it up. All star cast and a great cause.

Respect The Hustle With Producer Director Abraham Roofeh.

Abraham Roofeh is a director and producer with his own shop, Crowned Kings. Abe is constantly pumping out great content: spots, branded content and music videos, you name it. We chat about how he gets his work, what it means to find one’s voice as a storyteller and how filmmakers need to have a bit of entrepreneurial zeal these days.

Actors – check out the Dan Velez Fund, a scholarship for actors established by our friends at www.spacestationla.com to honor of this wonderful casting director that passed too soon. Go to www.DanVelexFund.org for more info.

Enjoy.

Problem Solving And Manifestos, Part Two With Director Marcus Nispel.

marcusnispel

This is part two with Director Marcus Nispel, the innovative filmmaker of commercials, music videos and film. His work and work ethic have both inspired me since starting in commercials, including his famous manifesto, which we discuss. Marcus expresses the joy he still gets from solving problems, be they in the script or in a challenging execution. Click his name to see his expansive body of work, as well as the comments he’s added to describe the challenges of each spot.
